BLOODWORK: PARIS

After completing a strenuous work week in London, Max, Marcus, and I made our way to Paris via train.  Here we paid a visit to the workspace of the unequivocally singular Tin-Tin and Co.  After photographing his clientèle for BloodWork we were happy to come upon a day off.  The opportunity was not squandered, took time to visit the Louvre (art overload), had a few great meals, drank, and slept.

The next morn was another photon deficient event.  With fashion week goings on in Paris and the rail protests in Germany we where finding it increasingly difficult to make our way around the continent by train.  Adding to the drag, we each were hefting our fair share of photo equipment along the way.  This all necessitated early rising and patient waits in train stations hoping to board whatever diesel beast would take us.  So at 4am we headed to Gare du Nord.  Dead time getting high on cheap espresso.  Next up Zürich.

BLOODWORK: BRONICA

One of my many favorite photos from BloodWork.  Using his Bronica, Max took this using photo of Owen while he was driving us into Melbourne from the airport.  Right hand drive conversion.

BLOODWORK: IVAN SZAZI

Ivan contributed this bodysuit to the BloodWork project.  His work is deceptively simple.  He understands the essence of the tattoo therefore has no charge to over sensationalize his work.  One of those tattooers that is so good he does not need to show off.... what a show off.
Thank you Eduardo for flying from Brazil solely to be photographed for the undertaking.
Thank you John for lending us your expansive studio for to shoot in.
Takes many to tango.

BLOODWORK: LEE: HOLLOWAY

Back in the States.  Promptly jumped into the first of four days photographing for the BloodWork: Bodies project.  This final(ly) shoot is being hosted at Analog in San José.  Should be fun.  Today was mellow.  A backpiece on Sibel and a piece by Todd on Tristen.  Tomorrow things pick up.

OSAKA: JINEN

I have yet to find another place upon the face of the Earth that comes within telescopic tasting range of Beni Toro at Jinen in Osaka.

Every time I land in Osaka my taste buds stir in anticipation of the coming event they will soon collectively rejoice in.
Max, Ichibay, and I made a date out of it.

BLOODWORK: FILIP LEU

While we were shooting in London late last year Filip requested that, on our next visit to Japan, we photograph the suit he did for Shige to include in the BloodWork: Bodies project.  It was a request we were honored to fulfill.

BLOODWORK: SHIGE

It's rare that a tattooer can walk the bridge between generations. It's even rarer to then transcend and create an entirely new mountain.

BLOODWORK: HORIGYN

First stop on the last Japan BloodWork capture campaign, Horyigin's Sword of Rebel in Nagoya. Always good to see an ol' friend.

We were here last year to photograph his clientèle for the coming book. Now we are back to capture images of the same collectors for the 360 photos that will accompany the book.

MELBOURNE: CEE-LO

Late night with the TM crew.
Cee-lo into the wee hours.
Highs and lows.

BLOODWORK: MELBOURNE

BloodWork photo shoot in Melbourne went well. Here Max is capturing images of a bakpiece by the venerable Geordie Cole. Kudos to SimpleSime & Owen for helping to coordinate the shoot. Multitudinous thanks to Steve Gourlay for providing his spacious workspace to shoot in, and for staying there all night during the flash flood dumping out buckets of water.

BLOODWORK: BROOKLYN

Compiled and placed here for your exclusive visual and auditory consumption, footage from the BloodWork Brooklyn undertaking back in November.  On our last evening in town we were most fortunate to come upon a man of many years playing violin and kick drum on the platform.  Made for a pleasant soundtrack to the following...
