OSAKA: JINEN

I have yet to find another place upon the face of the Earth that comes within telescopic tasting range of Beni Toro at Jinen in Osaka.

Every time I land in Osaka my taste buds stir in anticipation of the coming event they will soon collectively rejoice in.
Max, Ichibay, and I made a date out of it.

OSAKA: SUMI

Osaka. Tattooed for several days. Today waiting for Mr. Dolberg's flight to arrive. Free time for to visit the shoga nihon ga ten (sumi shop) and re-up.

Treviño scribbled down rough directions to this place nine years ago. Been returning once a year since. Could likely find this sumi for purchase within the online morass but the process is more fulfilling to wait until I'm in country and again revisit the same connoisseur shop. The proprietor always recognizes me but seems a bit perplexed as to why I show up every 12 months to acquire an identical block of sumi. This time I forgot to bring the wooden box label for memory reference however he knew which one I required. Is good.

OSAKA: SK8BAR

Cool bar in Osaka.  You'll notice the barstools are skate decks.

The guy who runs this joint used to skate for Trigger, the same group I did design work for.

MAN v.s BOOZE v.s BEAST

Confident with my brother in arm(brella)s, Sir Shamah and myself, along with our trusted Sherpa (that's a joke in reality Sherpas are not to be trifled with), ventured deep into the untamed wilds of the Osaka fashion district in search of the infamously lethal, although quite dead and taxidermic, storefront window lion.

Soon our precious supply of water (that we didnt actually bring) was exhausted and we were forced to resort to consuming copious quantities of whiskey (which was purchased at Family Mart in advance of our journey with the explicit purpose of getting wasted because the dead lion hunt is kind of boring unless one affords him or herself the opportunity of seeing two blurry versions of the beast simultaneously).

I shan't waste your time with a long winded self-aggrandizing account of the hunt.  Instead I leave you with this image of man and beast at the apex of the chase, moments before complete blackout...

...why did I waste so much time typing all that?

ATAKers

It goes without saying (but occasionally it's worth stating) how fortunate I am to work with such a dedicated group of socially maladjusted creatives (including the guy behind the lens).
Thanks guys for flying halfway around the world to hang some pictures, sleep on floors, and scribble in a couple books.

PS... In the event of a futile water landing, and to ensure posthumous pioty, I forward dated this entry to post while flying 30,0000' above the Pacific.

THE PATH: HASHIMOTO

This trip has seriously bogged down the mind and body. With multiple exhibitions, book signings, and top secret suicide missions, I'm beside myself having nothing to do but tattoo for the entire week.

Started a freshy yesterday...

OSAKA: DIRTY LAUNDRY

Through a dark back ally, around a corner, down some stairs. The micro-matt smelled of mildew and stale cat box, but somehow still revealed itself as yet another stumbled upon JP jem (also dried our clothes).

...or maybe I've been here a few days to long.
