SOUL SUNDAY!!

What's up welcome back to Mrs. Toon$ Soul Sundays! The Hip Hop world has lost another legend Mr. Adam Yauch AKA "MCA" from the Beastie Boys. He was battling with cancer for the last 3 yrs. he died on May 4th.

The Beastie Boys are an American hip hop group from Manhattan New York that busted out in the 80's. The group consists of Michael Diamond, known as Mike D , Adam Horovitz known as Ad-Rock and Michael Schwartz or Mix Master Mike and formerly Adam Yauch known as MCA. The Beastie Boys formed as a hardcore punk band in 1979, appearing on the compilation cassette New York Thrash, before recording their first EP Polly Wog Stew, in 1982. After achieving moderate local success with the 1983 experimental hip hop 12" Cooky Puss, the group transitioned to hip hop in 1984 and released a string of successful 12" singles. The Beastie Boys toured with Madonna in 1985, and a year later released their debut album Licensed to Ill. The group had sold 22 million albums in the United States and 40 million albums worldwide, making them, according to Billboard, "the biggest-selling rap group" since 1991.

The Beastie Boys were one of the longest-lived hip hop acts worldwide and they continued to enjoy commercial and critical success more than 25 years after Licensed to Ill. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14, 2012, "just the third rap group to enter the Hall, after Run-D.M.C. (2009) and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (2007)." In 2009, the group released digitally remastered deluxe editions of their albums Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head, Ill Communication and Hello Nasty. Their eighth studio album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, was released on May 3, 2011, and received positive reviews. Even though I was young when they first came out I remember my parents always playing their albums. In 1992 my friends & I were asked to appear & be the dancers on a local tv station called Hollywood Haze. This was a show that showed footage on the underground parties ,House music & party crews that were in at that time. They we're linked with street beat magazine which was a popular magazine in the 90's. We did most of our routines to beastie boys music such as Brass Monkey... The Beastie Boys music had a huge impact on my life & still relevant today.... RIP MCA.

Life is Short, stay humbled Thanks for Tooning In!
